I use one can of pie filling and either one can of plain fruit or an equal amount of fresh fruit (such as one can peach filling and one can plain peaches [drained], or one can cherry filling plus an equal amount of fresh raspberries). I find it perfectly pleasing that way. I'd take a cast iron dutch oven. Pour cherry pie filling on the bottom. Top with chocolate cake batter made from a mix. The bake the cake in the campfire coals. We'd scoop it into bowls to serve. We mixed and matched fruits and cake flavors.
