Hello. I just found your website. Congrats on the Rachel Ray-thing. While this may not be the correct forum, I was wondering if you have successfully cooked rice in the crockpot? Not that instant stuff, but real brown rice?

    ReplyDelete
  3. thanks, Adam and Megan's mom!

anon, I have cooked real rice in the crock. I used white, but imagine brown would work the same way. I have used brown in recipes, and it worked. Make sure you have the correct liquid to rice ratio (the same on the package) and you're good to go.

you were FAB on RR show! so cool and collected! Loved the desert idea too- gotta try it!

oh, and yes to anonymous- brown rice does great in CP. on low- but I have found not all brown rice is created equal and some need more liquid than others. Either do it while you can watch it or put in TOO much liquid and just drain like pasta. (save any juice you drain for soups as it is healthy) For best results flavor the liquid as the rice absorbs it.

  42. When I saw you on the Rachel Ray show I thought to my self I cook a lot in my crock pot so if you would like some of my recipes let me know I will send some your way and some really do clean out the pantry

  43. Hi Steph,
I saw you today on RR. Where have you been hiding all my life? Your crockpot recipes have triggered me to buy the "Rival Smart Set" crockpot.
The 2 first recipes I will b trying is "CrockPot Barbecue Beef Ribs" and "Company's Coming Potatoes Augratin"
Also I will be making my potatoes and corn in the crockpot from now on. Thank You for taking the time to share your yummy recipes with us.
I am so glad I tuned in to RR today. I will be a constant visitor to your blog now.

    Laura

PS. I am sure you have used the Rival Smart Set Crockpot Rachael gave you by now. Can you tell me how you like it. Is the hinged lid
easy to wash? How should I handle the lid? Worried as it looks like it might be a problem. Afraid it may break off with allot of waer and tear.

  44. Great show! I am now completely addicted to your blog. :) I am always up for something quick and easy, that won't heat the whole kitchen.

I would love to see you try things that are dairy free (one of my kids is horribly allergic to milk), if you are up for a challenge. :)

  45. WAAAAH! I couldn't find this on my cable line-up! I guess I will have to watch it in reruns or online!

    I'm awfully proud of you!

Hey there! I just saw you on Rachael Ray and heard about your blog - decided to come check it out. Can't wait to browse through it all and try my hand at a few of your recipes.

Best of luck to you in completing your goal - especially during these summer months. You're a stronger person than I as I'd be lost without my BBQ'd meals, lol.

    All the best!

  47. I saw you on RR today and have spent the last 4 hours (not kidding)reading all of your posts. I just had to start on Jan 1 and work my way to today. I love your recipes, ideas, and especially your sense of humor. I am sending your link to my mom in Ohio. She is a true CP queen. What a great idea and way to follow through!!

You may have already made a version of this, but I have a White Chicken Chili crock pot recipe that I make A LOT.

Hi Steph, Saw you on RR show. Just made your recipe for Baby Back Barbecue Beef Ribs (except I used pork instead of beef) They are crocking now as we speak. My question though is I ordered the Rival@Smart Set crockpot from seeing the one RR show gave you. Just wonder if you used it yet and how do you like it. Kinda worried about the hinged lid if you like it that way also thot it might be easy to break off during cleaning. Also it looks like it might be a awkward to clean! Please give me your opinion. Can't wait till the ribs are done. They smell soooo good TY for putting this blog up for us. Laura
